Making Memories with a Mother's Day Photoshoot

Pouring through photos of my little one is one of my favourite ways to take a trip down memory lane. It's incredible to see how far she's come. How far I've come, too! Since it's usually me behind the camera (my DSLR or my phone), I don't often make it into a lot of our photo memories. Therefore, I treasure them all the more when I do get a good shot of the two of us together. They're such special mementos from this fast-moving life of ours. I love watching her grow, but... can we slow it down just a little bit?
All Moms Deserve Special Memories
For the last handful of years I've offered Mothers' Day Mini Photo Sessions here on Salt Spring Island as a way of offering Mamas smaller, less costly opportunities to have their photos taken with their beloved babies (referring to all your children here - my "baby" is 10-year-old and will forever be "my baby"). For these sessions I set aside a day (or two days, if time allows) on which these 10 or 20-minute photo sessions are held in a beautiful location, allowing me to reduce my regular session fee as my travel time and expense is much less than if I were making a trip to the location for one session. As the time of shooting is also reduced from my typical offering of 1-hour or 30-minute photoshoots, there are also fewer included final images (in digital format - print or share as you will, just remember to include credit to Hannah Spray Photography when you share online) in these packages than the number included in a typical photo session with me.
While I generally offer a selection gallery for all my non-wedding/event photography projects, the final images delivered for these Mommy & Me mini sessions will be personally selected by me. That being said, I will include an optional selection gallery of all the best images that didn't make my cut, in case you would like to add on additional images to be edited and delivered for you. It's always fun for families to have a look at some of the sillier options that come from a session, and sometimes these turn out to be my clients' favourites, after all.
Indoor Studio Session? Why not!
Last year (2023) I opened up a small indoor studio space to allow for short and sweet indoor sessions that could be accessed rain or shine. This year (2024) I am considering running two separate dates of Mother's Day Mini Photo Sessions to allow for both options. The indoor sessions for Mother's Day Minis (and other special occasions) tend to be about 10-15 minutes in length, and are set up minimalistically in front of one of my basic backdrops. This simple set-up allows for you and your little ones to be the main feature of the photos, drawing attention to those beautiful eyes and smiles, rather than a range of distracting props.

At the time of writing I have not yet laid out definitive dates and time for the Mother's Day Mini Sessions for 2024.
